Beaucoup d'amour pour le français!

image

Yesterday I found out the most exciting news! French magazine, Version Femina, featured my large bow headband in navy in an accessory article. It is always so nice when unexpected things happen regarding my shop. A huge thanks to everyone for always supporting me and giving me the kindest words throughout the years I've been in business!

Month of May in Instagram

photo-17

photo-16
I started working at a flower shop in center city as an assistant floral designer, and I absoutely love it!! I was hired with no experience and have been training and learning so much about flowers and plants. I think that I've even decided that Peonies and Ranunculus are my favorite flowers.

Saw Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's... Seriously one of the best shows I've ever been to. They played for a really long time and were completely awesome!

I made a little coffee table book with instagram photos from my trip to California. It turned out surprisingly well for a first time baby book. I am going to try and do this with all of the little trips I've taken so far this year... I think it's a great way to display and remember the good times.

I dyed my hair back to dark brown. I had fun with the ombre for a little while, but I am so happy to be back to my natural color! Change is good, but sometimes best is what you are born with. :)

New Booties to replace the ones I wore to death and have destroyed! Yay!

I hope you all had an equally amazing month of May.

Take Care

I am anxiously awaiting the new Beach House album that comes out May 15. Until then, I have been listening to Teen Dream, specifically "Take Care" on repeat. It is the prettiest song ever... :)

Best Coast

photo-4

I just returned from a spontaneous long weekend away on the California coast. Although short, it was truly one of the best vacations I've ever taken. I could totally see myself relocating to the west at some point in my life. It just feels like such a healthy life-style... in the short time there, I drove my bike all over Santa Monica and Venice, ate fresh blueberries by the handful, walked to and from the beach numerous times, taking in the sunshine and breathing in the fresh salty air coming off the ocean.

photo-5

I feel silly for feeling this way since I should just be happy I was even able to take off and have this experience, but I feel sad and slightly depressed. Does this happen to you? Is post-vaca blues a real thing?

Pennsylvania Abandon Turnpike

Two Sunday's ago, a large group of us traveled 3 hours out towards Pittsburgh on the turnpike to walk the long stretch of land that used to be part of the Pennsyvania Turnpike. It was closed down in 1968 when they needed to expand the lanes to ease congestion. We walked about 14 miles in total, and went through one mile long tunnel that left us in complete darkness when our flashlights were turned off.

Fun side note::: Some of the movie "The Road" was filmed in the Sideling Hill Tunnel... pretty cool, right!! :)

We all had a ton of fun, and I peed in the woods 4 times (Great Success!!) It was really a great trip, and I highly suggest it if you ever have the chance!

A Fresh Start

FloralFabric2
Cream Floral

In the past few months my life has changed drastically. I've had to make many decisions that were extremely hard. There was a lot of time spent in the "crying bed" surrounded by the best of friends that I am SO LUCKY to have that have accepted me at my worst and have been helping restore me to my best. That's the most I'll say about my blogging absence, but life is good now. I am happy and so excited for the future and the now. It is simply fabulous being back in Philadelphia... the city I love. :)

Over the past few weeks I've set aside my crochet hooks and have replaced them with my sewing machine. I've really enjoyed working with it, even though we have had our fair share of arguments, we still love and respect each other. ;)

Here are some wire headbands I made out of vintage and vintage inspired fabric that double as ascots. A lovely customer even told me she would wear one on her wrist! They are now for sale in my Etsy shop, so check them out. They are perfect for the coming warm months and even make really great gifts. Some of the fabric is one of a kind, so grab them while you can.

Homesick

A really lovely friend introduced this song to me so I thought I'd share it. I think it is one of the prettiest songs I've heard in a long time.

Lately, I have been feeling a bit homesick... homesick for my friends. Luckily I have gotten to spend a few incredible weekends with them... and tomorrow one of my besties is throwing a Christmas gathering and I will get to see everyone again. I simply... CAN! NOT! WAIT!

I hope you all are well and are either already celebrating the Festival of Lights(Chanukah!) or are gearing up to be with your families this weekend. I wish you all a happy and healthy. <3

Hello!!! :)

il_fullxfull.285010530

Although I did not do it on purpose per say... I believe, I truly needed a break from blogging. The other day... I started to really miss it! And miss all of you and reading your wonderful blogs. I have been ridiculously busy working, prepping for Art Star (yikes! It's next weekend already!) trying to clean and cook dinners and on top of all that normal day to day stuff, I also of course want time with friends and Eric! I've convinced myself that after next weekends big show, life should surely calm down, which I will be very thankful for.

I previously blogged about having another photoshoot with the talented Sharyn Frenkel and my gorgeous friends Leila and Stephanie... Here's how it turned out!

My, Oh My!

Things seem to be falling into place quite nicely the past couple of weeks. I landed a full time job, and have been coming home at night and working super hard on some really great new pieces for fall, while catching up on some much needed TV time! (Ahhem! Can you say Mad Men obsession!!?!) I have been enjoying a set schedule during the week and loving special friend time on the weekends. The only thing I am missing now is a little pup to love and to hug! (Hopefully soon!!)

This past weekend my gorgeous and talented pals came over to zee house and we had a photoshoot of my fall line. Here's a little teaser for you... I'm DYING to see the rest!!! Eeeee!!! :)

Sweet Treat

The people whom we bought our house from were kind enough to plant a few things in our garden before we moved in. One of these yummy things is rhubarb. The first time I experienced rhubarb was actually just this year, baked into a delicious pie Eric's grandmother made. Since it is now growing tall and strong, I decided to give rhubarb a go and see if I could make something super tasty.

Blueberry Rhubarb Brown Betty

RB1
I used fresh rhubarb straight from my garden and many handfuls of blueberries that are in a huge box in my freezer. I actually found it really helpful that the blueberries were frozen so when I was mixing in the other ingredients, they didn't smush.

RB2
Add 1 Tb flour, 1/2 c sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1 Tb water and a few squirts of lemon juice to your fruit mixture and stir. Let sit for about 10 minutes or so to allow the juices to come out.

RB3
In a separate dish, put 6 Tb butter, 6 Tb flour, 1/2 c of brown sugar, and some sprinkles of cinnamon. Mix together.

RB5
Add 1/2 c of rolled oats

RB4
Put the fruit mixture into your pie dish and crumble your crumbs on top. Put in oven set to 350 and cook for about 30 minutes. Keep checking to make sure your crumble isn't burning.

RB6
So yummy!!!!! :) Enjoy with vanilla ice cream on top while still warm!

Vacay by the Sea

summer

I have been a very absent blogger over the past two weeks and I want you all to know I've missed you so so much! I took a much needed vacation by the ocean and spent many hours with my family and friends. It was so nice to not have to worry about anything and be able to simply enjoy my time with my family.

The photos above are...
1. Super yummy strawberry shortcake my friend Shawny made for his birthday last Monday.
2. My auntie came all the way in from Oregon to hang out and it was so great to see her!
3. I took a ride in a ferris wheel at the jersey shore.
4. The mini infinity scarf in a gorgeous custom color combination I made for a customer this past week. I LOVE making custom orders so please ask if you have something in mind!!! ;)

I hope you all are enjoying the last days of August. We just had a massive thunderstorm and I can feel a cooler breeze floating in through the window... ah... feels like fall! Yay! :)

Autumn is Coming!

il_fullxfull.262793299

I have been MIA in blog world all week, but in real life I have been crocheting my little fingers to the bone! This weekend I am heading down to Margate NJ to do an outdoor craft show on Saturday. If you are in the area, or would like to spend a gorgeous(Yes, the weather is supposed to be nice!!) day at the beach, come down and say hi! :)

I've been making a bunch of new things with gorgeous new fall colors that I put in my shop this week because I just couldn't wait anymore. Making their debut on Saturday will also be super cute scallop collars that nobody has seen yet!

Someone Else's Life

photo-9

Eric and I have started ripping apart the one upstairs bedroom, (ie: he does the dirty stuff and I bring him water when he is thirsty!) We are pulling up the carpet so we can fix the original wide hard wood floors and pulling down the plaster on the walls to re-do it plus put in some more electric outlets while it is down.

While ripping down the plaster, Eric has found lots of treasures! So far, he found old records cracked in pieces and stuck in the plaster, an old check from 1983, a picture of a super cute puppy, (also from 1983) some mickey mouse playing cards and a police badge of some sort. It's so strange to me how and why these objects found their way into the plaster to begin with... almost eerie... Who were the people that lived in this house before us and all of the people before them? When you purchase a home from the 1850s, you know that obviously you aren't the first, and most likely will not be the last people to live here. However, it is still a weird feeling when you come across these old possessions. Someone else's life...
